Medical Consultations for Visiting Foreign Patients

Residents of foreign countries who wish to be examined or treated at our hospital need to make an appointment and provide the necessary information prior to visiting Japan.
Please contact our hospital in advance to ensure that you can receive treatment safely.

1. Contacting our hospital

International patients who reside abroad and do not have a Japanese health insurance card need to check with the examining department in advance to determine whether they can be accommodated. Please prepare the necessary information before contacting us to help the department make this determination.

Information that is needed to determine whether you can be examined at this hospital (*in English or Japanese only)
  • Patient introduction form from your regular hospital (overseas)
  • Various medical test data
  • Imaging data (CT, MRI, etc.)

 The above information is essential. (*If the determination cannot be made on the basis of the materials you submit, you will be asked to submit additional materials)
 You may not be able to undergo reception at our hospital if you do not provide this information from your regular hospital.

 A staff member from the department in charge will get back to you later to explain the flow of procedures leading up to your consultation. (It may take 3 to 5 business days for them to contact you)

2. Contact a medical travel assistance company

If it has been determined that you can be accommodated at our hospital, you will be introduced to an established medical travel assistance company in Japan. From that point on, we will contact you through the assistance company regarding the coordination of your visit.

Services that will require entering into a contract
  • Procedure for a medical stay visa
    In order to receive treatment safely, you will need to stay in Japan for the duration of the period that we determined.
  • Lump-sum payment of rough estimate of medical expenses (*The balance will be returned to you if actual expenses are lower than the estimated amount)

 We will have you confirm the amount of the rough estimate of medical expenses and pay in advance. The assistance company will accept payment on our behalf and guarantee payment.
 International patients who do not have Japanese health insurance cards are charged 30 yen per medical fee point. (You will need to pay consumption tax in addition to this amount)
 *For the cost of various medical tests, please refer to the List of estimated medical test expenses.

3. Enter into a contract with the assistance company 

If you consent to the terms that are explained in the introduction to the medical travel assistance company, you will need to enter into a contract with the assistance company.

4. Coordination of the date and time of your visit to our hospital

The hospital will coordinate the schedule for your outpatient visit to the attending department, as well as any hospitalizations or surgeries.

5. Hospital admission, testing, and treatment

If you are found to require medical care apart from the scheduled tests and treatment, you will be presented with an estimate of the additional medical expenses.

6. Discharge/Follow-up outpatient visits

You will be expected to settle your medical expenses through the assistance company.
You will receive a refund from the assistance company if your actual medical expenses are lower than the rough estimate.

*Please understand that while we give priority to patients with appointments at our hospital, but you may need to wait, depending on the circumstances.
*Because an accompanying family member, friend, or acquaintance may not be able to provide appropriate interpretation, we ask that you use the designated interpretation service when you come for your consultation.
